Fees checked October 2026 against eBay’s own help pages for eBay.com, eBay.co.uk and eBay.com.au. Rates are worked out per item; check your Seller Hub for your exact category.

How to use the calculator

  1. Choose your eBay site and seller type — store or no store in the US, business or private in the UK, or your Pro plan in Australia.
  2. Pick your category. Its exact fee rate, including any lower rate above a price limit, is filled in for you. Not listed? Choose “Other category” and type your rate from Seller Hub.
  3. Enter the order total exactly as the buyer paid it, including postage and any sales tax or VAT, and the tax inside that total. UK and Australian sellers can tick the box to fill in VAT or GST.
  4. Add your costs: what the item cost you, the shipping label, and your promoted listing ad rate.
  5. Set the buyer's country and your seller performance to add the international fee, the Top Rated discount or the Below Standard surcharge.
  6. Check “What should I charge?” to see your break-even price, or the price you need for the profit you want.

Questions

Does eBay charge fees on postage and tax?

Yes. eBay works out its fees on the whole order total, including postage and any sales tax or VAT the buyer paid. That is why you enter the full amount the buyer paid.

Do I pay lower fees with an eBay Store?

On eBay.com, yes: Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise store subscribers pay lower rates in most categories (for example 12.7% instead of 13.6%). A Starter store pays the same as no store. On eBay.co.uk, business sellers pay the same final value fee at every shop level. In Australia, Pro Basic, Featured and Anchor plans have lower rates but a monthly fee.

What is the per-order fee?

On eBay.com and eBay.co.uk it is 0.40 per order, or 0.30 when the order total is 10 or less. In Australia it is A$0.30 on Pro Starter and A$0.33 on other Pro plans. UK private sellers and Australian sellers on free selling pay no per-order fee.

What is the international fee?

eBay.com: 1.65%, or nothing if you use eBay International Shipping. eBay.co.uk business sellers: 1.05% for Eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% for the US and Canada, 2.0% for other countries. UK private sellers: 3%. eBay.com.au: 1.1% on Pro plans and 3% on free selling.

What is the Top Rated discount?

Top Rated Sellers get 10% off the final value fee on qualifying listings: Top Rated Plus listings on eBay.com and Premium Service listings on eBay.co.uk. In the UK it does not reduce the per-order fee.

What happens if I am Below Standard?

eBay adds an extra fee on the next month's sales: 6% of the order total on eBay.com and eBay.co.uk, and 5.5% on eBay.com.au. It rises to 7% (6.6% in Australia) after four months in a row.

Do Australian sellers pay final value fees?

Not if you have no Pro plan and sold A$25,000 or less in the last 12 months. You still pay the 3% international fee, Promoted Listings and any surcharges. Above A$25,000 you move to Pro Starter, which charges final value fees.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or saved.

What do margin and ROI mean?

Margin is your profit as a percentage of the sale after tax. ROI (return on investment) is your profit as a percentage of what you spent on the item and postage.
